Website, online booking, three languages

Hotel Fantastico: a hotel website in three languages with its own booking system

Hotels pay booking platforms a commission on every reservation. Hotel Fantastico wanted guests to book directly, pay by card and get an instant confirmation, with reception seeing everything in one place.

Project background

About the client and the market

Every booking made through a booking platform costs the hotel a commission. For a smaller hotel that is a large share of the margin, and guests often don’t know they can book direct, or find booking direct more complicated than on the platform.

Hotel Fantastico has rooms, a spa, a restaurant and events, with guests from Serbia, Hungary and other countries. Booking direct had to be just as easy as on a platform: choose a room, see the seasonal price, pay by card and get instant confirmation, in the guest’s own language.

The challenge

What needed solving

  • Direct booking that is as simple as on a booking platform.
  • Seasonal rates and packages that reception can change themselves.
  • Three languages with the same content and structure.
  • Reliable confirmations that don’t land in spam, and legal compliance for guests from the EU.

The solution

What we did

We built a multilingual website and our own booking plugin. Guests choose a room and dates, see the price for the season, pay by card and get confirmation immediately. Reception has its own panel where they can see and change every booking in one place. The hotel pays no platform commission on direct bookings.

  • Website in Serbian, Hungarian and English (Polylang)
  • Our own Fantastico Booking plugin
  • Seasonal rates, packages and availability checks
  • Card payments
  • Reception panel for managing bookings
  • Email confirmations via SMTP
  • GDPR cookie consent

In detail

How the solution is set up

Our own booking system

Fantastico Booking covers seasonal rates, packages, availability checks and card payment. Guests complete their booking without phoning and without waiting for a reply.

Reception panel

Reception can see and change all bookings on one screen, and update seasonal rates and packages, with no developer needed.

Three languages, one structure

Each language has 13 page types: home, rooms, spa, restaurant, offers, events, gallery, contact, booking, terms, privacy, house rules and FAQ. 40 pages in total.

Reliability and the legal side

Booking confirmations go out via SMTP so they don’t end up in spam, and cookie consent is GDPR-compliant, which matters for guests from the EU.

Offers and events

Packages and events have their own pages, so the hotel can promote a spa weekend or a celebration without a new website or landing page.

Process

How we worked, step by step

  1. Guest journey analysis. We went through the whole journey from search to confirmation and compared it with booking platforms.
  2. Booking system. We developed a plugin with seasonal rates, packages and card payment.
  3. Content in three languages. We built the same page structure in Serbian, Hungarian and English.
  4. Reception. We trained the staff to change rates, packages and bookings themselves.
  5. Testing and launch. We tested payment, email confirmations and the mobile view in all three languages.

Visibility in Google and AI search

An FAQ page and clear information about the rooms, spa, restaurant and location in three languages are exactly what AI assistants use when someone asks for “a hotel with a spa in Senta” in Serbian, Hungarian or English.

For local SEO, the hotel’s name, address and phone number need to match on the website, the Google profile and the booking platforms. We aligned them across all three language versions.

Where it stands today

What is on the site today

The state of the site on 1 November 2026:

  • 40 published pages in three languages
  • Our own booking system with card payment
  • A reception panel for all bookings
  • Email confirmations via SMTP

We don’t publish the number of direct bookings without the client’s consent.

Lessons

What you can apply to your own project

  • Direct booking has to be as easy as on a platform, or guests won’t use it.
  • Reception needs one screen for every booking.
  • A multilingual site opens up markets in neighbouring countries.
  • Send booking confirmations via SMTP so they don’t end up in spam.

Who this approach is for

Who this approach suits

A booking system of your own pays off for any hotel, guest house or apartment complex with enough guests for platform commission to become a serious cost. Booking platforms can stay as an extra channel, while the website takes the guests who already know the property.

  • Small and mid-sized hotels with a spa, restaurant or events
  • Properties with guests from several countries
  • Hotels that want reception to run everything from one screen
  • Properties with seasonal rates and packages

Technology

  • WordPress
  • Elementor
  • Polylang
  • Fantastico Booking (our own plugin)
  • Card payments
  • WP Mail SMTP

FAQ

Questions about the Hotel Fantastico project

No. On direct bookings through its own system the hotel pays no commission to booking platforms.

Serbian, Hungarian and English.

Yes. Seasonal rates, packages and bookings are all managed in the reception panel.

By card, straight away when they book.

It doesn’t have to. The website brings in direct bookings with no commission, and the platforms can stay as an extra channel.

Key lessons

What Hotel Fantastico shows about direct bookings

Hotel Fantastico is an example of how a smaller hotel can win back some of its bookings from booking platforms to its own website. Guests will only book direct if it is as easy as on a platform: clear prices by date, card payment and instant confirmation.

What turned out to matter most

  • Booking in a few steps. On the Hotel Fantastico site, guests pick dates and a room and pay without being sent to another website.
  • Three languages, equal quality. Guests from Serbia, Hungary and elsewhere get the same content in their own language, with correct hreflang tags.
  • One overview for reception. All bookings are in one place, with no copying by hand.

We apply what we learned on Hotel Fantastico to hotels, apartments and other tourism businesses. Have a look at marketing for hotels and tourism and website development; Google explains multilingual sites in its guide to localised versions of pages.
