Online store development

Online stores that sell and rank from day one

An online store is more than a catalogue with a basket. It has to open quickly on a phone, let customers find products easily, handle payment and delivery without errors, and have category pages that rank on Google. We build WooCommerce stores that are ready for SEO and advertising from day one.

What you get when we build your online store

We build an online store as a sales tool, not a business card with a basket. That means thinking about three things from day one: can customers find a product easily and buy it on their phone, does Google understand and rank the categories, and are ads and tracking ready the moment the store goes live.

We work with WordPress and WooCommerce. It is the most widely used platform for online stores in the world, it is free, the site and the data are entirely yours, and there are extensions for local banks, couriers and tax requirements in Serbia and across the EU. More on choosing a platform in our guide Building an online store with WooCommerce.

How the build works, step by step

1. Plan and structure

We go through your range, your customers and your competitors. We build the category structure around how customers search, not how the warehouse is organised. A category called “inflatable pools” ranks; “group 14 items” doesn’t.

2. Design for mobile

Most customers arrive on a phone. We start the design with the mobile version: large images, a clear price, an “Add to basket” button always within thumb’s reach and a short path to checkout.

3. Products and import

We enter products or import them from Excel, CSV or a supplier’s XML feed. Where possible we connect the store to your warehouse or accounting software, so prices and stock stay accurate without manual work.

4. Payment and delivery

We set up the payment methods you offer (cards through a bank or payment processor, bank transfer, cash on delivery) and courier services with accurate shipping rates. We test the whole checkout with real orders before launch.

5. SEO, tracking and ads

Before launch we set up the SEO foundations, GA4 e-commerce tracking, the Meta Pixel and the Google Merchant Center feed. The store is ready for Google Shopping and Meta catalogue ads from day one.

6. Launch and training

After launch you get training and a short guide to products, orders, coupons and promotions, and we keep an eye on the first weeks of trading.

SEO for your online store from day one

Most online stores end up paying for expensive fixes later because SEO wasn’t part of the build. We build it in from the start:

  • categories as landing pages, with short copy, FAQs and internal links;
  • filters that don’t create thousands of duplicate pages in Google’s index;
  • Product schema with price, availability and ratings, for rich results in search;
  • unique descriptions for the most important products, instead of the manufacturer’s copied text;
  • speed: optimised images, caching and hosting that copes with peak season.

More detail in our guide SEO for online stores and on the e-commerce SEO page on Optimizacija-Sajta.rs (in Serbian).

Online stores we have built

We have built online stores of different sizes: Bazeni Akcija (517 products, pools and equipment), Kocke.rs (1,290 products, LEGO bricks), MojKarcher.rs (a specialist store for Kärcher equipment) and Foto-Maja (online booking of photo services). Read the details of each project, what the challenge was and how we solved it, in our work.

After launch: maintenance and growth

An online store needs regular maintenance: WordPress, WooCommerce and plugin updates, backups, security checks and speed monitoring. We can take that over, and alongside maintenance we offer SEO, Google Ads with Shopping campaigns and Meta ads, so that after launch the store gets visitors too.

If you need a website without online sales, see web design.

Payments, delivery and tax receipts

A store has to support the payment methods customers expect in its market: cards everywhere, often cash on delivery and bank transfer in Serbia, and wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay in much of the EU. We connect card payments through a bank or payment processor, with the pages and settings the provider requires for approval. Delivery is connected to courier services, for example D Express, BEX or Post Express in Serbia, with rates calculated by weight or zone and, where the courier allows it, shipments created automatically.

In Serbia, online stores must issue fiscal receipts under the e-fiscalisation rules; on stores we built, such as Bazeni Akcija and MojKarcher.rs, the fiscal receipt is issued directly from the store. For sales into the EU we set up VAT rules, currencies and the legal pages each market needs.

Large catalogues and product import

A store with hundreds or thousands of products can’t be maintained by hand. We connect it to supplier data (XML, CSV or API), with automatic price and stock updates and rules for categories, attributes and images. For Kocke.rs we developed our own plugins to import 1,290 products, with technical data tabs and SEO copy. With large catalogues we pay particular attention to the speed of search and filters.

Basket and checkout: where sales get lost

  • compulsory registration before buying (we allow guest checkout);
  • a delivery cost that only appears at the very end (we show it earlier);
  • a form that is too long (only the essential fields, with autofill);
  • unclear delivery times and return terms;
  • a slow checkout page on mobile.

We measure each of these steps in Google Analytics, so you can see where customers drop out.

How we work

Three steps to measurable growth

01 Analysis

A review of your website, your competitors and your keywords. You get a clear list of what is holding back growth.

02 Plan and delivery

Priorities ranked by their impact on sales. We handle the technical side, the content and the campaigns, with no wasted effort.

03 Measurement and growth

A monthly report with enquiries, rankings and spend. We double down on whatever brings in business.

FAQ

Online store development: questions and answers

It depends on the number of products, integrations and payment methods. A smaller store is usually finished in a few weeks, while a larger one with a feed import and a warehouse connection takes longer. You get an exact timeline in our proposal.

WooCommerce is a free WordPress extension, the site and data are entirely yours, it has extensions for local banks and couriers, and there is no monthly platform commission. Shopify makes sense for some stores focused on Western markets, and we discuss that openly.

Yes. After launch you get training and a short guide, so you can manage products, prices, promotions and orders yourself.

Yes. We set up the Google Merchant Center feed and the Meta catalogue before launch, so you can start advertising straight away.

First we do a review: speed, the path to purchase, categories, SEO and tracking. Often it is enough to fix the key parts, without building a new store.

Through the courier’s plugin or API, where the courier offers one. That way shipping is calculated automatically, and the shipment can be created from the order itself.

In Serbia, yes: online sales are subject to the fiscalisation rules, and the receipt can be issued directly from the store through a connected fiscal system. In EU countries the rules differ, and we set up invoices and VAT to match the market you sell in.

Yes, with good hosting, caching and carefully set-up filters and search. We have built a store with 1,290 products and an automatic import from the supplier.

Yes, with currencies, delivery, taxes and language versions set up where needed. Selling into the EU also means following GDPR and the consumer protection rules of those countries.

E-commerce websites

E-commerce websites built to sell

Building an online store is more than uploading products. Our e-commerce development includes a category structure for SEO, filters, card payments, courier integration, a Google Shopping feed and tracking of every purchase.

We build e-commerce websites on WooCommerce, because the business stays the owner of the store and its data, with no monthly platform commission. A store can have anything from a few dozen to several thousand products, with import from Excel or a supplier’s API.

After the build we help with sales too: SEO for categories and products, Google Shopping and Meta ads. See examples from our portfolio, such as Bazeni Akcija and Kocke.rs.
