Marketing for hotels, accommodation and tourism

Every booking that comes through a booking platform costs you commission. The goal is not to leave those platforms, but to have a growing share of guests book directly on your own website. That takes a good site with online booking, visibility on Google and ads that run at the right time.

Hotel and tourism marketing: direct bookings

In short

Hotel marketing: more direct bookings, less commission

Hotel marketing has one main job: getting guests to book with you directly rather than through a platform that takes a cut. That calls for a fast multilingual website, your own booking engine, a presence in Google’s hotel results and ads that reach guests while they are still planning the trip.

We measure our marketing for hotels, apartments and tourism organisations in bookings and enquiries, not likes.

What we do

Specifically for your sector

Website with online booking

Your own booking system with seasonal rates, packages and card payments, managed by your front desk.

Google hotel results

Connection to Google’s free booking links, so guests also see a “book direct” option.

Google Business Profile

Photos, amenities, replies to reviews and questions. For accommodation, the profile is often the first impression.

Multilingual website

English, German, Hungarian, Serbian or whatever your guests speak, with correct hreflang tags, because people search in their own language.

Seasonal campaigns

Google and Meta ads for weekends, holidays, events and packages, launched weeks before guests start searching.

Booking tracking

Bookings and enquiries tracked by channel, so you know what ads bring in compared with Google and social media.

Direct bookings instead of commission

Booking platforms are useful: they bring guests who would never have found you. But a guest who has already found you, through Google Maps or a recommendation, often still books through a platform because your own site makes it hard to check availability and pay. That is the easiest share of commission to win back.

For Hotel Fantastico we built a multilingual website with its own booking system: seasonal rates, packages and card payments, with the front desk managing every booking from the same system. The hotel pays no commission on direct bookings.

What it takes for a guest to actually book direct:

  • availability and price on the first screen, with no need to send an email enquiry;
  • card payment and clear cancellation terms;
  • a reason to book direct: breakfast included, late check-out, parking or a website-only discount;
  • a site that is fast on mobile, because most guests look at accommodation on their phone.

Google Search, Maps and hotel results

When someone searches for a hotel in a town or region, Google shows a hotel module with prices and a map before the ordinary results. That module also carries free booking links, where a hotel can show its direct rate next to the platforms’ prices. For that you need a booking system connected to Google.

We set up the Google Business Profile for accommodation in detail: real photos of rooms and spaces, amenities (parking, spa, pets), accurate categories and replies to reviews. We reply to reviews specifically, because future guests read the replies just as closely as the reviews.

On the website we build pages for what guests really search for: room types, packages (a weekend for two, a business stay), local events and the surrounding area. These are the pages that rank, and the ones AI assistants can cite when a guest asks where to stay.

International guests search in their own language

A guest from Hungary searches in Hungarian, a guest from Germany in German, and visitors from the diaspora often in English. If your site exists in only one language, you are invisible for those searches. We build multilingual sites with a separate URL for each language and hreflang tags, so Google shows every guest the right version.

We do not translate word for word or by machine: keywords differ from language to language, and what a guest from Vienna needs to read before booking is not the same as what a local guest needs.

Tourism organisations and destinations

For tourism organisations the goal is not a booking but visibility for the destination, with visitors finding everything in one place: sights, events, accommodation and practical information. We built the official tourism website Visit Senta.

For destinations we pay particular attention to content structure (every sight and event as its own page with schema markup), an events calendar that is kept up to date, and making the site the source AI tools rely on when someone asks what to see in the area.

Ads for accommodation: when and to whom

With accommodation, timing is everything. We launch campaigns for the summer season, holidays and major events weeks in advance, while people are planning, not when it is already too late. On Google we target searches with clear intent (“hotel with a pool”, “spa weekend package”), and on Facebook and Instagram we show packages to people in the cities your guests usually come from, then again to those who viewed the site but did not book.

FAQ

Tourism: questions and answers

No. Platforms bring in new guests. The goal is for guests who already know you, or who found you on Google, to book direct, because you pay no commission on those bookings.

They are part of Google’s hotel results, where a hotel can show its own direct rate, with a link to its booking system, alongside the booking platforms’ prices. The listing is free, but it requires a connected booking system.

The languages your guests speak. For many of our clients that means English, German and Hungarian alongside the local language. We look at guest data and search demand and choose the languages that make sense.

Yes. For smaller properties we build a simpler site with an availability calendar and an enquiry or booking form, together with a well-kept Google Business Profile, which for small accommodation often matters more than the site itself.

Ask guests in person at check-out and send them a direct review link after their stay. Reply to every review. Google removes bought or fake reviews, and they can damage your profile.

How we work

How we market hotels and accommodation

Today’s guests plan their trip on a phone, compare prices across several sites and read reviews. Good hotel marketing follows them along that whole path.

Website and bookings

The site has to load rooms, rates and availability within seconds and let guests pay by card without being redirected. Each language has its own version with correct tags, as Google recommends in its guidelines for localised pages.

Google Business Profile and reviews

A profile with up-to-date photos, prices and replies to reviews is often the first thing a guest sees. Collecting ratings consistently after each stay has a direct effect on bookings.

Destination content

Guides to day trips, events and local food bring in visitors who have not yet chosen where to stay. Hotel marketing often skips this part, yet it brings traffic all year round.

Ads at the right moment

Google Ads for accommodation searches and Meta ads for guests from target countries, with budgets adjusted to the season.
